A few months ago, New York Times finally gave Columbus the love it deserves by granting it 47th place on its list of 52 Places to Go in 2019. Now, the publication is putting its actions where its words are by paying Columbus a visit and highlighting all its best attractions on Instagram.

@NYTimesTravel, a verified travel account from NYT followed by a whopping 873k users, recently added a Columbus highlight from the experiences traveler Sebastian Modak (@sebmodak) had in the city.

Note: Though Columbus is listed as 7 in the highlight, that only indicates that its the seventh destination Modak visited on his journey to the 52 places on NYT list, in which Columbus was ranked 47th.

Showcased first on the Insta highlight is Franklin Park Conservatory, specifically the Dale Chihuly exhibition. In 2003, the Franklin Park Conservatory became the second botanical garden in the world to host a Chihuly exhibition. Some pieces of the exhibit have been on permanent display since, like the Persian Ceiling piece featured in the highlight.

Another Instagram story praises the revitalization of the Scioto River in Columbus’ “blooming downtown.”

Seventh Son’s sister sour brewery, Antiques on High, also got its 5 seconds of fame. The brews must have called for some chef-driven cuisine, because the next place to be featured on the highlight is Antiques on High’s next door neighbor, Ambrose & Eve.

Service Bar Executive Chef Avishar Barua also got a shoutout for his homage to his favorite childhood treat: Taco Bell’s Cheesy Gordita Crunch.

Modak also took a trip to another world during his time here in Columbus. Otherworld, an immersive art exhibit expected to open this spring, was featured on the New York Times Travel Instagram highlight.

Last on Modak’s tour de Columbus was a quick makeover at Old Familiar Barbershop, complete with a “before” and “after” update.
