Some of your favorite Central Ohio breweries have already teamed up in the nationwide fight against racism, bigotry, and oppression by selling beautifully dark beers that give 100 percent of the proceeds to local foundations committed to change.
The Black is Beautiful campaign was started by Weathered Souls Brewing in San Antonio, Texas, to highlight unity and collaboration during these divisive times. Columbus-area breweries that have joined the campaign include BrewDog USA, Land-Grant Brewing Company, Seventh Son Brewing Co., and Nocterra Brewing Co.
Weathered Souls has been providing breweries with the recipe for the stout base on its website. It was designed to be a moderately high abbreviated stout in order to showcase different shades of black. From there, breweries can then put their own personal spin on the Black is Beautiful stout.
Local breweries taking part in the campaign have been asked to donate 100 percent of proceeds from the beer to local foundations that support police brutality reform and legal defenses to those who’ve been wronged.
