Next month, the ever-popular Columbus eatery Alqueria is adding a brand-new sister restaurant concept to its ranks.

Suburban Southern Kitchen & Spirits–which is located at 2234 W. Dublin Granville Rd., the former home of The Crafty Pint–will offer Southern American fare and will also feature a full whiskey bar with a focus on American bourbon.

The new eatery is planning to open for business on June 27.

Inspired by the decade owner Patrick Marker spent in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, the eatery will feature traditional Lowcountry fare in addition to a variety of Cajun and Creole dishes. While the menu hasn’t been released yet, Maker said diners can expect dishes like shrimp and grits, fried catfish, smoked pork belly and more.

Head Chef Odine Hong, who has worked at popular Columbus eateries like Barcelona Mezzo, Harvest, Due Amici and Hen Quarter, has been tapped to lead the new restaurant’s kitchen.

“I am from Worthington. I was raised there and that is where my wife and I are raising our kids, so to be opening a restaurant there is a dream come true,” Maker said.
