New modern Somali restaurant opens on North Side

Jack McLaughlin

A new option for modern Somali fare is now available to North Side diners.

Sally’s Halal Grill officially opened its doors on Aug. 14 with a grand opening celebration.

The eatery is located at 2649 Northland Plaza Dr., near the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and E. Dublin-Granville Rd. The storefront was previously home to El Sabor de vie Tierra. which has since relocated to Westview Center in the Hilltop.

The new North Side restaurant joins several other popular Somali eateries in the City’s eclectic food scene. Spots like Hoyo’s Kitchen–which operates a busy North Market food stand in addition to a sister concept, Hoyo’s Sambusas & Juices, in North Market Bridge Park–have steadily gained traction.

Sally’s Hala Grill is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.
