Celebrate Día de los Muertos at the Columbus Museum of Art!

The Day of the Dead may seem a little spooky, but it’s actually a time to remember and celebrate your loved ones that have passed on.

One way to do this is by building an ofrenda, which is almost like a colorful altar, filled with your loved one’s favorite items, plus pictures of them and any other memories. Many believe that on Día de los Muertos (which is November 1st this year), souls of the lost loved ones can return from the land of the dead, and eat their favorite treats that their family left them on the ofrenda. It’s a way for past loved ones to connect with us again, and vice versa.

The Columbus Museum of Art is displaying their own ofrenda starting now until November 5th, built by local artist, Renee Zamora. Visitors are welcome to bring their memento to add to the ofrenda, such as a picture, memento, or anything else that celebrates someone special.
