Columbus bakery offering new Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup donut

One bold new Columbus donut is taking fall baked good flavors to places they’ve never been before.

Rose Dough Donuts has introduced a Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup donut.

The new creation, which will be available at least for the next two weeks (and potentially even into November), is inspired by the flavors of the classic soup and sandwich combination, according to Rose Dough owner Katie Passo.

“The donut is inspired by the flavors, so there’s no actual soup involved, but it features  our soft, buttery Brioche Donut covered in homemade sweet and savory tomato soup ‘seasoning,’ sliced in half, and topped with two pieces of good ‘ole American cheese. It’s then toasted to perfection. It literally tastes like the childhood favorite,” Passo said.

The donut, which Passo said was inspired by a post from local food content creator Thatsandwichdude, underwent several rounds of tweaking and taste tests from foodie friends.

You can pre-order the donuts today for pickup Saturday.
