A new “neighborhood dive bar” is taking over the former home of The Shrunken Head in Victorian Village

While we lost The Shrunken Head last year, the Short North is getting a “classic neighborhood dive bar” in its place.

According to a statement posted by the Victorian Village bar and grill Zeno’s, one of its co-owners, Quinn Allen, plans to open The Vic Village Tavern. It will be located at 251 W. 5th Ave., where The Shrunken Head stood for more than a decade.

Additionally, Matthew Herron and Lonnie Kubankin, two of Allen’s business partners from another concept, The Library Bar, will join him as co-owners of The Vic Village Tavern.

“The space is something we can’t wait to share with the community and it will host events like live music, karaoke, trivia and much more,” the statement reads.

Zeno’s noted that a full slate of bar drinks will be available, but The Vic Village Tavern will place an emphasis on dive bar favorites like Blatz, Old Style and Stroh’s.

It’s unclear when the new bar plans to open, but Zeno’s social media accounts will provide regular updates.

“We want to bring balance back to the Columbus bar scene and add another neighborhood dive to the mix,” the statement reads.
