DiCarlo’s Pizza’s Westerville location officially opened its doors last June, and now less than a year later, the popular storefront is already bolstering its offerings.

According to franchisee Michael Carlson, DiCarlo’s is currently planning a Gelato scoop shop and mini-market within its Uptown Westerville restaurant, which is located at 20 S. State St.

Carlson said the gelato flavors will be finalized soon, and the scoop shop will open at the Westerville location in “a month or two.” Likewise, several other offerings in the new mini-market, including fresh-baked bread, peppers, and jarred DiCarlo’s pizza sauce will also be available then.

So while we’ll have to wait for parts of the new market, other components are already in place. The eatery recently obtained its liquor license, and now offers (614) lager and assorted wines, with plans to add several more beers, such as Peroni and Iron City.

“We don’t want to be a bar, but we want to have a few nice alcohol options to go with the food, sit with outside or walk around town,” Carlson said. DiCarlo’s is within Uptown Westerville’s DORA.

Currently, the Westerville pizzeria also sells DiCarlo’s merchandise, including shirts, hats and mugs. Carlson, who also recently took over the DiCarlo’s restaurant in Hilliard, said a similar concept could be in store for that location as well.
