Ohio city named country’s “Hottest Place to Live” in 2024, but it’s likely not the city you think

If we told you a major financial publication named an Ohio city the country’s “Hottest Place to Live” next year, you’d likely have Columbus on the top of your tongue.

Interestingly enough, that wasn’t the city named by Barrons in its new story detailing the best cities to live in 2024.

 Neither was Cincinnati or Cleveland

According to the Barrons story, next year’s hottest place to live is none other than Toledo.

“The housing market’s stagnation this year is projected to carry over into 2024. But a forecast published [in early December] by Realtor.com identifies metro areas that are poised to see both rising prices and sales next year, with Toledo, Ohio leading the way.”

While the city’s population has stayed roughly the same size since taking a significant dip in the late 1960s, Toledo’s population increased for the first time since 2017 last year, and the United Nations World Populations Prospects estimates it will continue to increase steadily through 2028.
