New list from national food publication says this Columbus eatery has the best burger in all of Ohio

While there are a whole lot of different burgers in the Buckeye State, according to Taste of Home’s annual list of the best burger shop in every state across the country, the top Ohio example comes from Columbus.

The Taste of Home list—which named burger restaurants as opposed to individual dishes— tapped The Thurman Cafe in Columbus as the spot with the best burgers in all of Ohio.

While it may seem like a hole in the wall, we assure you that the Thurman Cafe in Columbus knows its burgers. The most iconic is the Thurmanator: a 12-ounce burger patty with bacon, sauteed onions, mushrooms, ham, mozzarella, American cheese, mayo, lettuce, pickle, tomato and banana peppers.

A word to the wise, following our Stock & Barrel issue dedicated to burgers last winter: Work your way up to the Thurmanator. It is a LOT of food, and Thurman Cafe’s more tame burgers are just as delicious, and a whole lot more manageable.
