Five upcoming cultural festivals coming to Columbus this summer

Columbus is a diverse city that celebrates and showcases different cultures, and here are five summer festivals that plan to do just that and more.

Columbus African Festival 

July 26 – 28, Genoa Park 

Collaborating with the Ohio Ghana Festival, the Columbus African Festival aims to create a unified African community. The event will feature music, food, fashion and art that directly represents the lifestyle and traditions within the community. While the actual festivites will take place July 27 – 28, 12 – 8 p.m., a business forum will also be held July 26, 3:30 – 6 p.m. at the Columbus Metropolitan Library.

Dublin Irish Festival

Aug. 2 – 4, Coffman Park

With music, food, art and over 800 performers, this festival is one of the biggest collections of all things Irish. Starting at various times each day, the event runs late into the night – highlighting different aspects of Irish night–life, including drinking and entertainment. However, for those with a bed time, the festival will also host plenty of kids activities alongside a 5k and Kids Dash. Admission can be bought at the gates, or online for a discounted price. 

Festival Latino 

Aug. 10 – 11, Genoa Park 

Festival Latino is a free event that celebrates and raises awareness for the intersection of cultures that makes up the Latine community of Columbus. The festival, taking place 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. daily, will have music, food, fashion and artwork from local vendors. Children’s activities and Salsa dancing lessons will also take place, ensuring that there’s something fun for all ages.

India Festival 

Aug. 24, Ohio Expo Center 

Celebrating its 40th year of traditions, the India Festival is returning to Columbus next month. With doors opening at 10 a.m., the event’s main focus is to raise awareness about Indian culture and lifestyles. The festival will feature Indian cuisine and ethnic artifacts, alongside various vendors and entertainment. 

Columbus Greek Festival 

Aug. 30 – Sept. 2, The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral

Spanning over a four day period, this year’s festival will showcase Greek culture and the Orthodox Christian faith that has been a staple in its history. Although food, music, dancing, vendors and shops will all be present, there will also be several opportunities for patrons to learn more about Greek traditions. The event will start daily at 11 a.m., with the exception of Sunday when doors will open at noon. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and free for children under 12.
