Iconic, Ohio-born pizza concept featured on ‘One Bite Pizza Reviews,’ here’s what it scored

The people (of Ohio) have been waiting, and Dave Portnoy has finally given them what they want. DiCarlo’s Pizza has been visited by Portnoy’s globe-trotting YouTube series One Bite Pizza Reviews.

Most know DiCarlo’s as the Steubenville-born pizzeria (with a strong Columbus presence), and while Portnoy technically reviewed the regional chain’s Wheeling, West Virginia location, we were still interested to know his thoughts.

After referring to DiCarlo’s pies as “tray style,” and “coal miner-style” pizza due to how many individuals a single DiCarlo’s pizza can feed, Portnoy scored it a 6.4 out of 10 (on a scale that is notoriously harsh, we should add).

DiCarlo’s didn’t net the 8.1 that Sexton’s Pizza received last year, but Portnoy noted “I don’t think this is supposed to be a five-star pizza, or, you know, Carbone. This is supposed to be, buy it, feed a lot.”

It’s also worth noting that this type of pizza is far from the thin and crispy pies Portnoy prefers, but in the world of One Bite PizzaReviews, there’s nothing wrong with a score in the mid 6’s.
