National chain abruptly shutters two restaurants amid lawsuit; last remaining Central Ohio location closing soon

It’s been quite a year for national chains – Red Lobster filed for bankruptcy, Big Lots did as well, Wendy’s is closing 140 of their restaurants, and a restaurant chain serving burgers and breakfast since 1939 is following suit.

Frisch’s Big Boy has been facing eviction lawsuits throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. In early November, the Lancaster location shuttered without notice, due to an eviction case over unpaid rent.

Two weeks later, the landlord of the Grove City Frisch’s at 2878 Home Rd. won a court case, ruling that Frisch’s missed their rent payments.

At the time, the Grove City location did not have a closing date, and employees said they weren’t sure of when they would close. However, last week, the Grove City Frisch’s posted a sign that Friday, November 22, would be their last day.

That same week, the Groveport location abruptly shuttered with no notice, besides a sign on the door posted that they were permanently closed from here on out.

Currently, the last remaining Central Ohio location in Heath location is open, but a manager told 614Now that they would be closing soon. An exact date is still unknown.

In a statement, Frisch’s said, “Due to unforeseen circumstances and various other factors…Frisch’s Big Boy Restaurants will be closing certain locations. We look forward to serving our loyal and beloved Frisch’s customers at other locations and apologize for any inconvenience.”
