‘Sports Illustrated’ posts video about OSU mascot vandalism drama
You’ve probably seen the “Justice for Brutus” rallying cry echoing across the internet in recent days, and now the story has become so big that even Sports Illustrated is throwing its hat in the ring.
In case you missed it, though, Ohio State defeated Indiana 38-15 in Columbus on Saturday, and in the early hours of Sunday morning, the Brutus the Buckeye statue outside of College Traditions, an apparel storefront on Ohio State campus, was found vandalized.
It’s unclear who’s responsible for the attack, but the perpetrators forcibly knocked the Brutus statue off of its pedestal, from just above the feet.

Columbus Police are investigating the incident.
On Monday evening, Sports Illustrated posted a short Instagram video detailing the incident. The post also cited online speculation about whether a Michigan fan could have been responsible. In January of 2022, the statue was struck by a skidding car as well.
In a gesture of goodwill, Kroger will be lending its Brutus statue to College Traditions.
