Ohio lawmaker introduces bill to make it a felony to plant a flag at midfield in Ohio Stadium
Just in case you forgot how seriously Ohio takes Buckeyes football, an Ohio lawmaker recently proposed a bill that would make it a felony to plant a flag at Ohio Stadium’s midfield on game days.
Yes, you read that right.
The “O.H.I.O. Sportsmanship Act,” or House Bill 700, was introduced yesterday by Ohio state representative Josh Williams, a Republican from the state’s 41st District in northwestern Ohio.

Here’s what the proposed bill says:
“Sec. 2927.18. No person shall plant a flagpole with a flag attached to it in the center of the football field at Ohio stadium of the Ohio state university on the day of a college football competition, whether before, during, or after the competition. Whoever violates this section is guilty of a felony of the fifth degree. A violation of this section is a strict liability offense and section 2901.20 of the Revised Code does not apply.”
Williams also proposed a bill earlier this year that would have restricted adult cabaret performances, including drag shows, in front of minors.
