Crowdfunding Spotlight: Baba’s
[kickstarter id=”905587603/babas-needs-dough-to-bring-home-the-bacon”]Each week, we give a bit of space and focus to a local would-be entrepreneur or an already-existing Central Ohio businessperson seeking support . Generally, this is someone who has ideas and goals for a product or service, but needs a bit of a boost. These folks turn to crowdfunding and we help to get the word out.
In 2013, Caroline and Dan Krause began the process of opening a new bakery / restaurant / specialty store.
Our ambition is to bring breakfast and coffee to a corner that is clearly under caffeinated. A local eatery with plenty of fresh baked breads, house made jams, jellies, churned butters to schmear and traditional Eastern European sweets to bring that Baba’s flavor to your sweet tooth.
– Caroline and Dan
Dan (That Food Truck) comes from a culinary background. Caroline brings the customer service finesse. The two of them began raising funds for the business and in 2014 secured their space…2515 Summit Street.
Now with almost everything they need to get this bacon-flavored party started, a major issue has surfaced. A huge, costly electrical obstacle leaves Caroline and Dan without the ability to open Baba’s. They say that old contractors had told them that they were all set…no problem…but now, they’ve learned that they were misinformed. The electrical issue has left them without the ability to fire up their kitchen and operate the business safely.
The cost of repairs is just as high as it is unexpected. Caroline and Dan are turning to the community to help them raise the dough needed to open their business. (jj)
