Tomato-themed festival featuring tomato war, eating contests and more returning

Celebrating its 59th year, the Tomato Festival is returning to Reynoldsburg for three-days of family-friendly fun and celebration.

The event will take place at Huber Park in the city of Reynolsburg, which was declared the “birthplace of tomato” in 1965. Various local vendors, carnival rides, fine arts and crafts, food, and music will be available.

The Tomato Festival is also home to the infamous “tomato war”, which features a dodge-ball style battle, but with tomatoes. For those who wish to steer clear of the potential shirt-staining war, the tomato contest, spaghetti eating contest and the car and bike show are all safe alternatives.

Although admission is free and open to all ages, attendees aged 21 and above can enjoy a drink within the festival’s beer garden and VIP tent.

Times vary for the event, with the park grounds opening August 8-9 from 4-10 p.m. and August 10 from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. More information about the Tomato Festival and vendors attending can be found on their website.
