Queer Poets, Artists and Open Mic
If you’re queer and you’re an artist of some kind, then you’re in luck. Columbus Queer Open Mic is hosting once more at Wild Goose Creative to showcase the queerest talents around town.
Sign up for a five minute slot and read your poetry, play a song, or say something meaningful that blows people’s mind, mic drop and walk out. It’s a celebration of arts and queer community, music, poetry, comedy, and storytelling are all welcome.
This month Erin Upchurch, an advocate, educator, and community organizer, will be featured for her work in social justice. According to the event page, “She has performed at various rallies, festivals, and special events; and has been published in several local publications. Erin’s work will be included in an upcoming anthology focused on intersectional experiences in the Queer community.”
Upchurch said,”I’m excited because I love stories and poetry; they help us connect human to human and life to life and in that space of connection communities are born, strengthened, and healed. Tonight you can expect my vulnerability as a queer black woman. I’m here because visibility and representation matter.”
$5 dollar donation is suggested at the door, but you can pay what you can. Doors open at 7:30 and the show starts at 8, so get there early, seats fill up quick!
