Columbus’s Own Hocking Hills

Columbus’s Own Hocking Hills

If you’re aching for some good ol’ Ohio nature, the type that you can only get in the most remote parts of the state, like say, Hocking Hills, then you’re in luck.

Franklin County Metro Parks just bought a pretty piece of land worth  $4.1 million dollars and spanning 98 acres, according to the Columbus Dispatch. It’s practically untouched, and sits just north of the Little Turtle Golf Club in Blendon Township.

Metro Parks plans to connect the new land to Rocky Fort Metro Park in New Albany, and it will be part of the Blendon Woods Metro Park, according to the Dispatch. Other than a connecting trail, there are no plans to tamper with the land otherwise, so it will remain a pristine forest where you can explore your heart’s desire.

This park opening is especially neat, considering that it took 60 years to acquire it, and it’ll be a new hiking and walking destination much closer to our homes and hearts.
