Columbus Teen Livestreams Rape — 9 Months in Prison

A 19-year old New Albany girl was sentenced to nine months in prison after she was accused of livestreaming her boyfriend as he raped her 17-year-old friend — she claims she was trying to record the assault as evidence, but she failed to turn over the video during the investigation.

While initially facing other charges including rape and pandering sexual matter involving a minor — she pled guilty to one count of obstructing justice in a plea deal with prosecutors.

She used Periscope to livestream the rape last February.

Her boyfriend, Raymond Gates, pled guilty and was sentenced to nine years in prison.
