Loud, booming geese removal almost over on Olentangy

Pesky geese proved irksome for the renovation on the Olentangy. The solution: lasers, pyrotechnics and noisemakers. Of course, that made the area surrounding the Olentangy a strange and noisy place to be. Those methods though are nearing an end. “Basically, we’ll be out there once a week monitoring the sites. Right now, pyrotechnics and noise efforts have been decreased,” said Jeff Pelc, a wildlife biologist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services, according to the Lantern. Originally the geese needed to be removed because of they were eating the vegetation surrounding the river, and those working on the renovation were not too keen on having the geese munch on their expensive new seed.
