Body pulled from Scioto identified as runaway teen
Update: The body pulled from the Scioto River near Hayden Falls Park has been confirmed as 17-year-old Payton Young. Yesterday, when the body was found, it had been exactly four weeks since the teen went missing. Police were considering her a runaway.
Detectives are still working with the coroner to determine cause of death, according to 10TV.
02/19/2018: On Monday afternoon, the Columbus Police Dive Team pulled a woman’s body from the Scioto River near Hayden Falls Park. 10TV reports the body was decomposed and no identity is available at this time.
Last month, 17-year-old Payton Young’s car was found around the same area. She hasn’t been seen since. ABC6 reports the teen was suicidal. Police found a suicide note on her cellphone and when checking her search history, found a website on how to hold your breath underwater.
MISSING TEEN: Payton Young, age 17, was last seen yesterday, January 21, 2018.
Her vehicle was recovered at Hayden Run Falls Park. The search for her remains ongoing. At this hour, 1pm, CPD’s dive team is at the Scioto River.
