Dropping absentee ballots in election

After a battle over voting times that went all the way to the Supreme Court, early voting began Tuesday. Thus far, 85,000 county residents have requested absentee ballots, which is almost 40 percent lower than it was in the 2010 election, the Dispatch reported. In person voting though was up for the first day of voting compared to the first day of voting in 2010 (even with the dreary weather). Officials have said that this lower request for absentee ballots is a reflection of how enthusiastic voters are about the election, as opposed to 2010 when the race for governor was close and John Kasich won by 2 percentage points. This years election for governor has Kasich pitted against democrat Ed FitzGerald who has had numerous campaign issues, and the party has turned their focus down the ballot.
