While New York was once the mecca for all young hopefuls, those hopefuls are a little less so, and are increasingly more aware of how expensive the city is. Now young college grads are going else where, to smaller cities but still avoiding the suburbs. Growing areas with higher percentages of educated 25-34 year olds have been noted in Portland, Baltimore, Denver and Columbus.
