Columbus Crew going to Lone Star State? Could it be?

Hold your best Hooligans close because we’re about to break some bad news to you: The Columbus Crew, one of the city’s prides and joys and one of the original MLS teams, could be shipping out to Austin, Texas.

The owner, Anthony Precourt, is expected to hold a press conference today and announce that if a downtown stadium cannot be finalized in the next year, he’s packing up the black and yellow and hitting the highway in 2019.

This news comes two months after chit-chat around the city about the Crew looking into moving the stadium away from their north side hangout but wasn’t in any rush. Seems now that Precourt is definitely in a rush..

This news could not come at a worse time as the Crew are hot on a nine-game win streak that clinched them a playoff spot.
