Popular BBQ pop-up finds forever home in Old Hilliard

The often sold-out barbecue pop-up at the old Long John Silver’s on South High has secured another location.

Legacy Smokehouse will be one of the five restaurants in Food Hall, the rotating kitchen concept coming to the Short North soon, and has recently landed a brick and mortar location in Old Hilliard. It’s expected to open in June.

The BBQ joint will take over an old antique bookstore at 3987 Main St. and sling their legendary Texas-style, white-oak smoked meats and scrumptious sides. Legacy’s Hilliard facility will be a couple thousand square foot and will have a second-floor patio.

Don’t sweat parking; the city plans to build a 56-space lot.

This Week news reports the Chad Smock, 44, helps coach girls lacrosse at Hilliard Davidson and opened Smokehouse after losing his daughter to an asthma attack. Smock runs the business with his two partners, Brian Jordan and Ty Sells.
