New amusement park: Indoor skydiving, water park, sand beaches +more

Forget driving two and a half hours to Cedar Point for an amusement park, we’re getting one practically in our back yard!

A multi-billion-dollar fun resort will cover a 350 acres plot of land in Delaware County that neighbors Tanger Outlet Mall at the intersection of I-71 and Rts. 36/37.

Planet Oasis will include an indoor water park, a wave park for surfing, an outdoor lake, skate park, ice rink, e-sports arena and a shooting range, as well as spaces for go-kart racing, indoor skydiving, rock climbing, and more reports Columbus Business First.

There are also plans to develop a 200,000-square-foot entertainment center with movie theater, bowling alley, laser tag arena, arcade and a “uni-coaster,” a roller-coaster-type attraction reaching 150 to 200 feet.

Not impressed yet? Well, let us tell you about the 160,000-square-foot indoor sports venue with the capability to host soccer, lacrosse, basketball, rugby, football, field hockey and other sports year-round.

The complex would be anchored by a salt water lake with sand beaches and a boardwalk in the middle.

Then, of course, you’ve got the conference center, 15 hotels, six parking garages, and places for restaurants and retailers.

Here’s the timeline so far: 40- 45 percent complete by December 2019, 75 percent complete by the end of 2020.

Columbus Business First reports Deleware is the fasting-growing county in the state with it’s population projected to double in 20 years.
