New matcha-forward café & coffee shop opens in Columbus next week

Sav McKee

Any fellow caffeine addicts out there who’s looking to maybe change up their daily routine and add some greens into their cup, listen up. And no – I don’t mean swapping coffee out with celery juice or a spinach smoothie – I’m talking about matcha.

Lately, the green tea coffee alternative has been making its way into drink trends again, most notably for the health benefits and the more “concentrated” buzz of energy you get after drinking it. Instead of the coffee jitters and anxiety, matcha aficionados claim that this ancient drink helps you stay focused and awake, without any of the negative effects of the usual high caffeine intake.

A new shop in Columbus definitely agrees, and owner Gardenia Gomez is opening an entire café focused all on matcha drinks. Matcha Me will be opening on June 28 next week, located at 2348 N. High St.

“Our brand is rooted in a deep appreciation for the ancient Japanese tradition of matcha and a commitment to delivering the highest quality products to our valued customers. We believe in the power of matcha not only as a delightful beverage but also as a source of vitality and well-being,” says Matcha Me’s website.

Their matcha offerings range from traditional matcha lattes, to strawberry matcha lattes, matcha lemonades, and even salted honey lattes for those who still prefer espresso.

They’ll be open Monday through Sunday, 7am-7pm. Stop in and see what the (anxiety-free) buzz is all about!
