The Chintz Room nearing the finish line
The Chintz Room likely has just a few weeks left until their grand opening. Thursday night, the restaurant (although not fully finished) hosted a fundraising party for Jennifer Brunner and William Woods who are both running for judiciary positions. There are still a few final touches needed, chandeliers need to be installed, lighting fixtures and a few last things to the kitchen. The restaurant has been decorated with historic pieces from the Chintz Room’s original era.

The Chintz Room opening in August, September
The Lazarus at one point was the place to shop downtown, with anything and everything filling the walls of the department store, but that era ended along with its restaurant the Chintz Room in the late 90s. The restaurant closed up and the hungry shoppers were no more. Liz Lessner (owner of Dirty Franks, Surly Girl, Tip Top, Jury Room and other Columbus staples) is working with Columbus Downtown Development Corp. to revitalize and reopen the near forgotten restaurant. Lessner was handed the keys to the building just days ago and she plans to have it open by late August or early September. According to the Dispatch, her goal is to offer some of The Chintz Room’s recipes once it reopens but with more of a modern twist.
