Amy’s + Wegmans recall spinach products for possible listeria
Just when you thought it was safe to eat (prepackaged food) again. Amy’s Kitchen, Inc. and Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. are recalling their frozen food products that have spinach due to a possible Listeria (monocytogenes) contamination.
Amy’s has recalled 19 different frozen entrees that have spinach, like their vegetable lasagna, tofu scramble, brown rice and vegetables, pasta shells, spinach pizza, and enchiladas (see complete list here). No illnesses have been reported that relate to the possible listeria contamination, and Amy’s is advising customers to not eat the food and return to the stores for an exchange or refund. Also, Wegmans Food Markets (with a 85 stores in NY, NJ, MA, PA, MD, and VA) recalled their 2oz packages of “Wegmans Organic Food You Feel Good About Just Picked Frozen Spinach.”
At this rate, all these food recalls are making me feel like those scary nighttime news’ segments: “Up next at 10: Your kitchen, home to the foods you love. But are they trying to kill you? Tune in tonight and find out.” (deb)
