Crew advances to finals, Wendy’s flakes
Although the Columbus Crew fell to New York City FC last night, they will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals thanks to aggregate scoring. ABC6 reports that Mapfre stadium will host the Crew vs Toronto FC in Game 1 on November 21. Toronto will be missing a few key players on account of some yellow cards which means the Crew will not only have home-pitch advantage, but also a leg up when it comes to the actual match.
Despite the Crew’s positive standings and the powerful #SaveTheCrew movement, Wendy’s doesn’t have much faith the team will remain in Columbus. After a short one-year partnership, the Dublin-based burger joint has pulled their sponsorship for next year, citing “uncertainty around the team’s future,” reports Columbus Business First.
