Hey vegans, lactose-intolerants, Jeni’s has news for you

Most of you, including us, don’t think twice about enjoying a couple scoops of Jeni’s splendid ice cream flavors. But for those who don’t or can’t indulge in dairy, it’s been a long string of dark years without the local treat.

But as of this Friday, those people will finally meet the light as Jeni’s rolls out its first-ever dairy-free ice cream. It’s a real doozy too—Dark Chocolate Truffle.

Columbus Alive reports that there was a lot of trial and error involved but after many failed batches (yet most likely still delicious) Jeni’s landed on a base of coconut and fair-trade cocoa in place of dairy.

Expect more flavors to follow Dark Chocolate Truffle next year including coconut Chamomile and White Sesame.

Now all the vegans and lactose-intolerant folks scream, “Hallelujah!”
