Shoo Nazis, homophobes, BrewDog doesn’t want you
Before the CEO of BrewDog gave her speech at the Women in Digital conference on Friday, Columbus Business First reports that a friend questioned the title of her presentation: “We don’t want Nazis to buy our beer.”
Tanisha Robinson assured that the title was on point and her bosses would back her. Robinson told her audience it’s okay to take strong social stances, even if it means losing customers. Being black, gay, and growing up in a Mormon family in rural Missouri, Robinson learned early on where her loyalties were and found like-minded people on the internet. From there, she spring-boarded into the interweb with digital startups while continuing to develop an outspoken personal brand.
Columbus Business First reports that when she was hired on as CEO of BrewDog USA, she didn’t have to rebrand herself at all. Robinson feels taking a stance against issue like white supremacy, homophobia, and sexual harassment isn’t the least bit controversial, but rather, the humane thing to do.
