New Albany Classic laid to rest

The typical lifespan of a horse is 25-30 years. The lifespan of the New Albany Classic Invitational is 20 years.

Due to a spike in equestrian competitions around the country lately, Abigail Wexner has decided to send her labor of love galloping off into the sunset. The New Albany Classic raised more than $32 million for victims of family violence and abuse over its two-decade run. Though the Classic is being put to rest, Wexner intends to continue fundraising efforts for the Center for Family Safety and Healing.

While some of the 15,000 guests who flock to the lawn at the New Albany estate of Wexner are interested in pristine horses and charity, the Family Day concerts at the annual September event drew fans of Ariana Grande, Demi Lavato, Nick Jonas, and more teen pop sensations.

In a closing statement per The Dispatch, Wexner wrote the end of the New Albany Classic chapter “represents an opportunity to develop something new, and I’m looking forward to exploring what’s next.”
