The City of Columbus has many strengths but we wouldn’t necessarily consider driving to be one of them (exhibit A, exhibit B, exhibit C). And when it comes to traffic congestion, our situation isn’t a whole lot better. According to the INRIX global traffic scorecard, a huge transportation analytics company, puts Columbus traffic jams at 55 out of 297 cities in the U.S.

While the ranking is a tad high, INRIX found drivers spent 23 hours in congestion last year which accounts for only 6% of drive time.

The #1 ranked city as far as congestions probably won’t surprise you—Los Angeles. So, next time you’re slamming your steering wheel at the sight of endless red taillights, just think about the 102 hours LA folks spent idling on pavement a year.
