A place serving wafels like you’ve never had before open now
Toss out any preconceived notions you have about waffles because Belgian Iron Wafel Company is going to reinvent the way you experience the gridded breakfast carb.
But, before we go any further, the spelling of the company is all part of the reinvention.
Belgian Iron Wafel Company had it’s grand opening at 19 West Russell Street in the Short North this weekend.
The restaurant will featuring Liege-style Belgian wafels made with Belgian Iron’s proprietary recipe and topped with an assortment of flavor profiles.
But, it all begins with the dough.
Unlike the soupy batter you grew up with, Belgian Iron’s wafels are made from a top secret dough recipe using unique sugar imported from Belgium.
Once the dough is prepared to perfection, it’s cooked on special irons imported from, you guessed it, Belgium.
It was hard to believe these waffles could taste better than look by, by golly, they do.
Heavier, than you’d expect, Belgian Iron’s Liege-style wafels are dense, yeasty, sweet, and doughy with just the right amount of crunch on top and bottom.
These small but mighty treats are surprisingly filling all by themselves, but, of course, Belgian Iron didn’t stop there.
Belgian Iron’s menu offerings include S’mores, Carrot Cake, Lemon Creme and Berries on the sweet side and Bourbon BBQ Pork, Belgian Mushroom, and Balsamic Sriracha Chicken on the savory.

After Saturday, Belgian Iron will be open Tuesday – Sunday 7am – 3pm
