Field to (virtual) table?

Julian Foglietti

In line with the rest of 2020, the Franklin Park Conservatory’s Women’s Board will be holding their annual Field to Table event online this year.

The event is one of the largest the conservatory puts on and brings in around 700+ dinners each year. Instead of dining in person as in the past, this year patrons are encouraged to come together virtually on Aug. 28 from their own lovely yards and gardens  to raise money for Conservatory programs.

“While it won’t be the same as past years, we still can have an evening of community (from a safe distance!), while raising awareness and critical funds to support valuable Conservatory community outreach and access programs such as community gardens to relieve food insecurity, food bank partnerships, and community days.” says Laura Rosene, Franklin Park Conservatory Women’s Board president.

In the days leading up to the event, videos and community initiatives will be posted to the conservatory website along with Spotify playlists and recipe recommendations to create the perfect Field to Table dinner at home.

Rosene notes that a hopeful benefit to the virtual format will be increased participation:  “In a typical year, our minimum Field to Table ticket price is $350. This year, there are no “tickets” for our virtual Field to Table.  All will be welcome to join in this outdoor celebration of Franklin Park Conservatory and community.”
