Papa Giorgio’s replaces shuttered beloved Clintonville Pizza shop

Papa Giorgio’s, 5216 Bethel Center Mall, will replace Clintonville Pizza Primo, which closed earlier this week.

The Clintonville shop, located at 3027 Indianola Ave., announced Dec. 11 via its Facebook page that Dec. 13 would be its last day of operation.

In a Dec. 14 post, the business posted in greater detail about the closure.

“… My husband and I had a vision. Open the shop, make it our own, become a part of the community and grow this business as a family,” the post said. “The world had other plans. The virus was spreading, schools were panicking, and no one knew what the future would hold.”

“… After a lot of sleepless nights, long days, and many tears, we decided that it would be best for us and our family to close the shop. It’s a bummer. We feel lost, broken, and sad at having sold the shop, but, amongst all of the yuck, we also feel love, support, and accomplishment.”

Papa Giorgio’s owner Jim Douglas said his business took over Clintonville Pizza Primo on Dec. 14 and plans to open back up later in the week. He said they will also continue to operate out of their 5216 Bethel Center Mall location.

We reached out to Clintonville Pizza Primo, and they declined to provide any additional comment.
