Trust Fall serves up mystery meals

We’re a pretty trusting group, Columbus—at least where our dinner is concerned.

It’s safe to say that Columbus Food Adventures’ 2020 endeavor, Trust Fall, was a hit with many of you.

The business served over 3,600 meals for two—that’s over 7,000 people—over the last several months since the mystery meal movement’s inception in April.

“It’s been very gratifying for us how well it’s been received,” said Bethia Woolf, co-owner of Columbus Food Adventures.

A food tour outfit for the last decade, Columbus Food Adventures had to pivot this year during the pandemic when dining rooms were closed, Woolf said. Trust Fall was developed as a way to support their own business and the city’s food scene.

Trust Fall runs Tuesdays through Fridays, and features a different mystery hot meal for two each night for delivery. The endeavor has featured 66 different restaurants so far, representing almost 40 different nationalities, Woolf said.

“We love the diversity of the Columbus food scene,” she said.

They’ve occasionally featured a high-end delivery dinner on Saturdays, and one is scheduled for January as well, Woolf said.

If you haven’t tried Trust Fall yet, don’t worry—it’s going to be around for a while. Woolf said they’ll definitely continue it in its current form through the end of March.

Starting next month, Trust Fall will also feature a mystery brunch on Sundays.

Some people have used Trust Fall as a date night, while others order weekly or biweekly, Woolf said.

“It’s been really fun for us to see how much people are enjoying it,” she said.
