Need for Speed: See how Ohioans stack up against other states for speeding violations

It appears many of us Ohioans have quite the lead foot.

According to a recent report by car insurance comparison platform Insurify, Ohio is the state with the most speeding tickets in 2021.

To come up with their numbers, Insurify looked at their database of car insurance applications, since applicants applying for auto insurance have to disclose their state of residence and driving history, including any speeding tickets since 2010.

Insurify compared the number of drivers with speeding violations to the total number of drivers in each state to figure out the state’s proportion of speedy drivers.

The result? A total of 16.12% of Ohio drivers were found to have a speeding ticket on record, and 2.4% of drivers had a failure to stop violation on record. Our state holds a 35% lead over the national average for the rate of speeding tickets, and a 27% lead over the national average for rate of failure to stop violations.
