According to the Zoo’s Facebook page, the fawn was born Jan. 4 to mother Joslyn and father Dexter. Because of complications following his birth, he’s being hand-raised by staff.
While mother and fawn are doing well, it will be a little while longer until we can see them. They both will be kept in a habitat behind the scenes until spring.

The deer is now three weeks old and is growing strong and healthy. Staff describe him as curious, spunky, and brave. He drinks milk daily and is slowly being introduced to solid food.
We’re looking forward to warmer months, when we can say hello to the Zoo’s newest little guy.
