After not being held since 2007, the Columbus Air Show will finally be returning to Central Ohio. The event will take place at Rickenbacker Airport on June 17-18, 2023.

According to Herb Gillen of Herb Gillen Air Shows, the 2023 event, which was billed as “one of the largest events in Central Ohio in 2023,” will likely host at least 100,000 visitors.

Gillen said that a combination of factors, from the presence of well-established airshows in Cleveland and Dayton to the show requiring amenities that only Rickenbacker could provide locally, as reasons why the show hasn’t taken place for nearly 15 years.

“Everything really lined up and converged to help make this show happen, too,” he said.

The event has often operated under a theme in the past, and will likely do so in 2023, although according to Gillen it has not been decided what that will be for the upcoming Columbus Air Show.
