A new Cameron Mitchell restaurant is coming to the Short North in August

Tacos, anyone?

El Segundo Mexican Kitchen, a new concept from Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, is officially opening in the Short North later this summer.

The eatery, which is located at 698 N. High St. and is scheduled to open on Aug. 31, will feature a menu inspired by the rich, vibrant flavors of Mexican street food, while opting for fresh and responsibly-sourced ingredients. It will open for dinner nightly and offer brunch service on weekends.

“With deep roots in regional Mexican cooking, the menu is built with authenticity in mind. Tortillas, sauces and signature ingredients will be made from scratch. Just as the Mexican culture exhibits, the food can be easily shared with family and friends,” said a prepared statement from CMR.

And since you’ll need something to wash all that food down with, El Segundo will also offer craft and Mexican beers, a full wine list, plus a wide variety of tequila and mezcal (a liquor similar to tequila that’s made from agave, usually cooked in traditional earthen pits). They’re not cutting any corners either, as three exclusive barrels of Herradura tequila have been hand-selected by CMR to round out the menu.

The restaurant’s interior decor will help create a unique Mexican-inspired dining experience for guests as well. Design elements inside El Segundo will include an array of sombreros suspended from the ceiling, a tequila cabinet putting some of the most interesting and eye-catching bottles on full display, and even bright and engaging street art painted directly onto the building’s exposed brick.

So come August, vamos!
