Backyard Beerfest to be held at Woodland’s

Woodland’s Backyard is taking advantage of the warmer weather with Backyard Beerfest, a socially distanced, ticketed event to be held April 9-11 in Woodland’s Backyard Dome.

Table purchases will earn guests pizza from Mikey’s Late Nigh Slice and numerous samples of beer.

Josh Smith, bar manager at Woodlands Backyard, said he wanted to try to recreate the large beer fest events that he used to attend with his dad and friends at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

“Obviously, with COVID, the normal, walking around sampling Beerfest isn’t possible but, I wanted to try and host something that resembled it while keeping everyone safe,” Smith said. “Managing Woodland’s Backyard under the current COVID restrictions since the May reopening has given us an outline of how to plan this properly. “

Guests will be able to purchase tickets by the table, with eight per table, Smith said. The event is restricted to 20 tables per session to keep everything spaced out. Tables will be sanitized between sessions, and bottles of sanitizer will be available on the table for guests. Staff will also serve the beer to guests to limit the number of people walking around. Attendees have to wear masks whenever they’re not seated.

Smith said he’s looking at doing similar events in the summer and fall.

Tickets are $300 for early bird sales and $325 after March 15. Tickets for Saturday night’s session is $350. Tickets include eight guests, a picnic table, and beach chairs. The three-hour sessions include 6-9 p.m. Friday, April 9; noon-3 p.m., 4-7 p.m., and 8-11 p.m. Saturday, April 10; and noon-3 p.m. and 4-7 p.m. Sunday, April 11.
