Downtown Hibachi restaurant opens today

Getting your hibachi fix downtown just got easier.

GENJIGO, the fast-casual hibachi concept, is slated to open today at 77 E. Gay St., according to Darrell van Ligten, chief executive officer.

“Downtown Columbus has been a priority area for us due to its strong daytime foot traffic, which bodes well for lunch, and high residential density, which bodes well for dinner,” van Ligten said.

Initially, the location will be open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, he said. And since the location will be primarily focused on takeout and delivery, the spot will have just four indoor dining seats, and 14 outdoor dining seats.

Other GENJIGO locations include Reynoldsburg, Pickerington, Gahanna, Lewis Center, Grove City, and Westerville.

Van Ligten said he’s continuing to evaluate real estate opportunities to further expand in the greater Columbus area.
