McDonald’s Shamrock Shake returns

We don’t need robins or daffodils. The real harbinger of spring is the Shamrock Shake, which comes back to us Feb. 15 at participating McDonald’s locations, according to a recent McDonald’s release.

This year, we’ll get the Shamrock Shake along with the Oreo Shamrock McFlurry. The McFlurry, which debuted last year, features vanilla soft serve and Shamrock Shake flavor with Oreo cookie pieces blended throughout.

The Shamrock Shake dates to 1967, the year Connecticut McDonald’s Owner-Operator Hal Rosen created the dessert in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day. By 1970, it was popping up in McDonald’s locations across the country.

Mid-month can’t come soon enough.
