Say hello to the new Columbus food delivery service that’s championing minority restaurants

When Sean Black would browse third-party food delivery apps like Uber Eats and GrubHub, all of the minority-owned eateries he preferred to patronize were either not on the app, or buried in a sea of chains and other options.

He’s hoping Trap Eats can change that.

“For me, at first, it was personal actually. I wanted a better way to get the food that I wanted delivered,” he said. “And I wanted to give these minority owners a platform to get more visibility.”

The service initially launched last year on a smaller scale, and Black used the first six months of its existence to gather data and figure out if it was viable. He discovered it was.

“Essentially, Trap Eats is the Uber Eats of the Black or minority owned community,” he said, noting that the service also employs freelance drivers like other third-party delivery services.

Currently, they offer food from nearly 40 eateries, including SuperChef’s, Chef Hiro, FishBurger, Fork in Nigeria, and many more. Customers simply need to download the Trap Eats app to get started.

And while Trap Eats was launched in Columbus, it will be expanding to Tampa in less than two months, and Cleveland by early next year.
