Just in time for the warmer weather, Playa Bowls will open its first Ohio location at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22 at 1952 N. High St.
The New Jersey-based operation is opening Playa Bowls Ohio State in partnership with OSU father-son team William and Brett Coleman.

Brett Colemen said his family fell in love with Play Bowls while traveling on the East coast for his daughter’s club lacrosse tournaments.
“When we were at a tournament near the University of Delaware we ended up at a Playa Bowls,” Coleman said. “At that time I didn’t even eat smoothie bowls, but my wife and daughter couldn’t stop talking about how good it was and how cool it was inside.”
After his wife suggested opening up a Playa Bowls in Columbus, Coleman began doing his research.
In addition to offering a variety of creative combos, Playa Bowls also lets guests build their own bowls. You can start with bases including pure acai berry, pitaya fruit, chia seeds, coconuts, kale, and bananas. Options for toppings include fresh fruit, seeds, nuts, granola, dried berries, and nut butters. The outfit also offers oatmeal bowls, fresh juices, and smoothies. The items can be made vegan and gluten-free, too.
