City looks to close Olentangy Trail gap

Users of the Olentangy Trail could eventually enjoy a more streamlined experience, thanks to a solution for closing a 0.6-mile gap.

According to a release from the city of Columbus, city officials selected an official route to close a gap from Clinton-Como Park to Northmoor Park on the 14-mile Olentangy Trail. Right now, trail users have to use city streets along a 1-mile, on-street segment of signed trail.

Based on public input and technical analysis, Columbus has selected a trail connection that will travel south from Northmoor Park, and go west on a new bridge over the Olentangy River and continue to West North Broadway at Ohio Health Boulevard.

The trail will cross West North Broadway at the intersection and proceed south, with a bridge over Slyh Run and the Olentangy River, to connect with Clinton-Como Park.

Construction is slated to occur between 2023 and 2024.
