Woman dies after collision with parking kiosk

A 23-year-old Columbus woman has died after a car accident in a Columbus parking garage, according to a police report from the Columbus Division of Police. 

According to the report, at about 11:37 p.m. Jan. 18, Victoria Strauss was exiting a parking garage located at 45 Vine St.

While attempting to pay for her parking, she dropped her card and attempted to retrieve it by opening her car door and leaning forward to pick it up. She inadvertently accelerated and collided with the parking kiosk. 

The collision pinned her between her car door and the door frame, and Strauss died as a result of the collision. She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The Accident Investigation Unit responded and initiated an investigation, which is ongoing.
